Discover Apulia by bike

Cycling with the wind in your hair and looking out over the sea, inhaling the perfumes of a magnificent countryside.

To visit Puglia by bike is all of this and much, much more: an unforgettable experience for anyone with a bit of passion for travelling on two wheels. Once in the saddle, you can immerse yourself in an unspoiled nature, and fully enjoy the local sights: a crystal blue sea and unspoiled beaches, monuments and testimonials to a noble history, events to celebrate the history and cultural celebrations of all kinds for people who are looking for a little fun.

People who travel by bike and love camping will be able to fully enjoy both of these aspects, living in the open air and in close contact with the surrounding environment. Here are examples of 3 itineraries, based on the time you have available:

1) Only have two days? Choose a trip to the Gargano, a ring route of about 90 km that runs from the coast of Vieste into the hinterland of the Gargano National Park, passing from the sea to the mountains, and running down to the camp sites of the Gargano.

2) Want to ride a bit more? Go for a tour of Salento along the coast to discover Gallipoli, Leuca and Otranto before returning to Lecce, 200 km of seashore, with camping in Salento.

3) Fancy staying in the saddle for ten days? You can start this off with a little digression in Basilicata, starting from the stones of Matera. From here, ride to the limestone dwellings (Trulli) of Alberobello and the houses on the three hills of Ostuni; you can continue to Salento via a short bus transfer, and then get to Lecce.

If you love "on the road" vacations, tow a tent behind you and rest at the numerous camp sites in Puglia. But before you put your feet on the pedals, don't forget a few precautions: sun cream, filled water bottles, detailed maps of the area and a tyre repair kit!
