All the beauty of autumn camping - What to bring?

We've talked about how much an autumn holiday can bring great surprises and satisfaction: camping enthusiasts are used to adventure and are not intimidated by temperatures a bit lower than average and a few whims of the weather. Just be prepared, after all. And we at Camping Freedom are here to give you some advice and some ideas on how best to tackle a few days of camping out of season.

The essentials: the sleeping bag

We know: it's a subject we come back to very often. We have already given a lot of advice and told its adventurous story but every occasion is good to add some useful suggestions. Especially if you're planning to camp in a tent it's better to be ready for some unexpected temperature changes: sleeping bags that can withstand temperatures of a few degrees below zero are the best choice. If you don't have the possibility to go to a specialized shop, you can easily search online: you can easily find resistant models within 50€. Of course you will also have to take into account the type of materials and your personal preferences. Our further suggestion is to opt for the "mummy" model, which is closer to your body and includes a hood to keep your head warm too. This is obviously different if you are a camper: in that case each type of bag is more than fine, it just depends on how sensitive you are to heat and cold.

The importance of insulation

Of course we're referring to the thermal one. The ground on which you will set up the tent may be damp and have absorbed the rain that has fallen in the previous days. Before you lie down with your sleeping bag, place the insulating mat that best suits your needs on the bottom of the tent. There are also heating models for the coldest people. In any case, make your choice according to the comfort of the model.

Other little things not to forget

It may sound like "grandmother's advice", but wisdom is never to be underestimated. Bring clothes made of different materials: cotton/linen for hot days, synthetic/wool for days when the weather is at its worst. There is nothing to stop you from combining clothing according to the situation you are facing. Well yes, we are talking about the famous "onion dress"! Socks are also very important: if you are planning some walks in the woods do not save in pairs to take with you. No matter how insulating your shoes may be, there is always the risk that they might get wet. Better a few more pairs than less and maybe even consider bringing a pair to wear inside your sleeping bag while sleeping. And finally, food: with temperatures a little lower and physical activity you will need calories to burn and, above all, you may get hungry more often. Take some energy bars with you to eat between meals and your body will thank you.
