Rafting on the Cascate delle Marmore
If you've always dreamed of doing something extreme and are looking for some inspiration for an adventure weekend, you'll be interested to know that the thrill of Rafting boils in the veins of Umbria, inside the Parco Fluviale del Nera.
The Cascate delle Marmore, which, with its 165 metres drop is the highest in Europe, is perfect for anyone who wants to experience the thrill of rafting. Descending the waterfall in a raft in the midst of rapids, and jumping between the rocks, the water whirlwinds and the wild nature of the forest are an experience you'll remember for a long time.
Dangerous? No, nothing to worry about: to go rafting on the Cascate delle Marmore, you'll just need to swim well and be in good health, and of course, rely on a specialist centre that will make sure you're completely safe. An activity that should be shared between friends and families that's also suitable for children from 8/9 years of age in its soft version.
The Fiume Nera (Black River) travels rapidly for more than three kilometres in the midst of a wild and luxuriant environment that its tropical counterparts can't rival. The rapids that are formed along the pathway are classified in degrees of incline on a rising scale ranging from 1 to 6. The essential kit needed, i.e. equipment and suitable clothing, is provided by the Rafting Centre. There are six people on each raft, and leadership is assigned to a qualified member of the Italian Rafting Association, who will issue the orders and instructions to follow during the descent.
For your outdoor weekends in the area around the Parco Fluviale del Nera, you can find camping equipment, just in case, full of outdoor sports fans, or you can choose one of the many campsites in Umbria, perhaps near a town of the Arts like Terni, Assisi, Gubbio, Spoleto or Perugia.
If you love water sports, Cascate delle Marmore you'll finally be able to satisfy all your adrenalin needs! Between Rafting, Hydrospeed, Canyoning, Canoeing and Kayaking everyone will find their course!
