Motorcycle tents: how to choose the perfect one for you

You can leave all your woes behind when travelling by motorcycle but, once you've arrived ... a good night's sleep is essential. Here are some tips and models of tents for you to grapple with to ensure you have a relaxing camping adventure. Whether you're on a world tour, a motorcycle rally or simply on a weekend away, it's a good idea to invest in your comfort.

Choosing the best tent model for you.

There is currently a wide assortment of tents available on the market: a myriad of different models, some of which are designed specifically with motorcyclists in mind. But with all this choice, how do you choose the right one?First of all, consider your itinerary, the duration of your journey, the distance you want to travel, the climate and the forecast temperatures. Then, consider your bike's load capacity; finally, the number of people with whom to share the tent, your assembly skills and the use you want to make of it.

Tents for bikers: tips for purchases.

The market offers two models of biker-friendly tents, both of them very useful. First, the tent with garage - ideal for journeys with a base camp, for its convenience and the availability of a garage for your bike - is specifically designed for motorcyclists who want to put their vehicles away. At 190 cm high, it is more compact than expected when closed, and has a waterproof and lightweight open structure. Its height could be a disadvantage in harsh climates due to heat dispersion. It also has drawbacks in poorly sheltered areas exposed to the wind. Redverz and Lone Rider are the reference brands for those who want to discover these models. The Ferrino, however, has quickly become the "motorcyclist's tent of choice". The Expedition is an igloo tent that includes a self-inflating mattress, a springtime sleeping bag and, above all, a large pocket for motorcycle equipment. The three components can be connected to each other for easy transportation by bike. Two alternatives: a bag and a hammock.
If you already have a tent, or want to explore other options, here are two solutions to consider. The sleeping bag is certainly the most spartan one. Some models have a small chamber for the head and shoulders, such as the Black Diamond models. The advantage lies in its small size, and in the fact that it doesn't need to be assembled. However, in bad weather and on open ground, it will be difficult to keep dry.Another solution to consider is the so-called "Hammock", made of high-tech materials and designed to protect you from rain, and to be easily transportable. A cord structure similar to that of a hammock is tied between two trees, which isolates it from the ground and avoids clutter. It's cheap, comfortable for sleeping, takes up minimal space and is easy enough to assemble. However, it does not guarantee the warmth and comfort of a classic tent, especially for clothes and luggage.
Discovering motorbike campsites.
The number of motorcyclists choosing camping holidays is increasing, and as a result, the facilities are adjusting rapidly. Now that we have seen how to choose the most suitable shelter for our journey, we can begin to think about where to pitch the tent. The number of biker-friendly campsites is increasing. They are becoming better equipped, and are often managed or frequented by authentic two-wheel enthusiasts. If you are one of them, they are perfect for you too. Because, in campsites for motorcyclists it's easier to make new friends, to exchange experiences, to get advice and to share your passion for the world of motorcycling in a pleasant atmosphere!
