All the beauty of autumn camping

We can say by now: summer's over. The days of good weather are less and less, the temperatures are getting lower and the hours of light are decreasing; the only thing that seems to increase is the temptation to spend our free time at home resting, but our nature as campers leads us to move and therefore to think about how to make the most of the autumn season for our campsite. Thinking about it for a moment there are many valid reasons to decide to spend a few days out of the house even at this time of the year.

Where to go?

In reality, there are no destinations that are particularly closed off. Our advice is to choose destinations where the beauty of autumn colours is breathtaking scenery: from the hills of Tuscany to those of Piedmont, from the Lombard Alps to the Emilian Apennines - and we have made just two examples - our country is full of enchanting places. A walk in the woods while the leaves turn yellow and fall or a mountain path from which you can see the peaks on which the first snow of the year has fallen are just some of the suggestions that autumn can give us. And let's not forget that even an off-season seaside resort can have its charm, not to mention the possibility of a day above twenty-five degrees that allows a nice swim out of season!

But above all... why go?

One of the first reasons is perhaps also the most obvious: because it costs less. Campsites drop their rates as soon as the high season ends and it is therefore cheaper to rent a pitch or a space for the camper in a place that would have been very expensive up to a month earlier. Directly connected to this, here is a second reason: less crowding. Wherever you decide to go, you will certainly meet fewer people than in July and August. Especially if your destination is in contact with nature, having a little more peace and quiet is not something to underestimate. There is also a very subjective variable concerning the climate: the beautiful days are certainly wonderful, but not all people can stand the hot summer heat well. Imagine setting up a tent in the midday sun, or staying with your motorhome on a pitch with no trees nearby on a mid-August day... These problems don't occur in autumn: temperatures are milder and the sun doesn't hit as hard anymore. Surely there is the flip side of the coin of the unpredictability of the weather, but to avoid bad surprises you can try to plan your holiday in advance according to the forecast.
