A dog-friendly holiday - The items to bring
After having seen some little tricks on how to spend a quiet and funny holiday with your dog we see together some objects that can help us and our pet. You don't need to spend a lot of money to get what we need: in some cases you only need a few euros to buy everything and breathe a sigh of relief. A leash for every occasion As already mentioned, one of the most important things is to keep our four-legged friend away from danger, especially in the presence of other animals or plants that could hurt him. Especially if the animal has difficulty obeying the orders we give it, it is a good idea to buy a leash or harness (depending on what you prefer): there are all kinds of harnesses available on the market, we recommend the roll-up one that you can block with a quick movement of your fingers. As far as length and strength are concerned, you must take into account certain variables such as your dog's size and where you are going on holiday: for example, what's better for our friend than running in a mountain meadow? It is better to leave him a few more metres of freedom. If your holiday is long and maybe you have a backpack on your shoulders, we suggest you also buy a spare leash to put in your equipment: in case of breakage or unexpected events with the first one you can use the other one without having to interrupt your route. Shoulder bowls For breaks related to food and water it may be a good idea to bring a set of bowls suitable to save space in your luggage: in specialized shops and on the internet you can find a lot of them in rigid or foldable material (nylon or silicone); obviously also in this case consider the free space in your luggage and the weight of the ones you choose. We advise you to let your dog eat and drink in the bowls before leaving so as to check that the change of habit happens at the least opportune moment. Always keep an eye out for protection We must also not forget that our friends' paws are delicate: the same care we take when choosing our footwear must also be applied in their case. We carefully study the route in advance (especially in the case of a holiday in the mountains) and in case the ground is uneven, do not miss dog shoes. Although they can be a bit annoying, they could be fundamental to avoid hurting them and to avoid annoyances to the paws after hours of walking. What is absolutely essential is a medical kit, especially if we know that the animal suffers from allergies or other problems that we already know. In addition, there may always be a need for a quick dressing, although of course we always hope that the holiday will go smoothly. Depending on the season or destination it may also be necessary to buy a dog coat: a sudden change in temperature or a harsh climate at night could in fact put a strain on our dog's physique.
